Asante Kotoko, the defending league champions, will not partake in the forthcoming Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) top six events.
The club revealed its decision on social media on Thursday, citing a sporting reason’ for not participating in the league.
“We have officially written to GHALCA this afternoon, telling the welfare authority of our decision not to participate in this year’s Ghalca Top Six tournament.”
“Our decision was based purely on sports considerations,” the message stated.
The withdrawal comes just a day after the head coach of the club, Prosper Nartey Ogum resigned from his role.
The tournament is set to kick off from August 14th to 31st at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
