Ghana set for 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham

Ghana’s contingent for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom (UK) departed the country on Thursday, July 21.

A total of 126 athletes and coaches left Accra for Birmingham, with the Games set to begin on July 28 and end on August 8, 2022.

Athletics, badminton, boxing, beach volleyball, cycling (road race), field hockey, judo, table tennis, triathlon, para-cycling, weightlifting, and squash are among the sports in which Ghana will compete.

Ghana has won 57 medals overall since appearing at the Commonwealth Games, including 15 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 24 bronze medals.

With judo winning a bronze medal at the 2014 Games in Glasgow, Scotland, and another bronze medal at the most recent Games in Gold Coast, Australia, Ghana won medals in athletics, boxing, and judo.
