Ghana sets a new world record at the World Athletics Championships.

The men’s 4100 relay team from Ghana set a new national record at the 2018 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America, with a time of 38.07 seconds (USA).

Sean Safo-Antwi, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Oduro Manu, and Joseph Paul Amoah made up the quartet who finished fifth, missing out on a medal.

The quartet beat their own mark, which they had achieved at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and stood at 38.08s.

Azamati finished in 9.04 seconds, followed by Sarfo-Antwi in 10.84 seconds, Oduro Manu in 9.27 seconds on the third leg, and Amoah in 8.92 seconds.

After making their debut in 1983, Team Ghana was unable to capture a medal at the World Athletics Championships this year and has never done so overall.
